Wayne McArthur

Born in Jamaica, Wayne came to the UK at the age of eight and brought a deep-seated love for reggae music with him. After a spell as a DJ, he began 'sing-jaying' on the mic in the style of his old-time favourites Big Youth, U-Roy and Tapper Zukie, with The Wailers, Dennis Brown, Ken Boothe and many others providing inspiration. Forming his own sound-system was a natural progression from such experiences, as was looking for opportunities to record his own music. His chance finally arrived at Ariwa, home of Mad Professor, after which he founded his own Moon Wave label.
