The Mighty Tabot Sound

A strong alliance was formed between Ras Kinfe & Ras Gabre - time was spent together reasoning about music & sound systems that they had been involved with since earlier days. It wasn’t long before they both realized that they both the same desire to own & play Roots & Culture on their own sound system.

Ras Gabre was based in London & Ras Kinfe had come from Wolverhampton and the next few years were spent buying & selling equipment, buying music & making links with people putting the jigsaw together with the help of Jah. Later Ras Kinfe met up again with Ras Muffet – who had been the owner & selector for the original Jah Marcus Sound and in the earlier days had been a member of the original Jah Shaka Sound System. Although they had not seen one another for a number of years they had been good friends since they were younger, & now Ras Muffet was building tunes in his studio with much success. Studio work continued which included recording, building & voicing tunes with artists such as Mykal Rose, Horace Andy, Frankie Paul, Errol Dunkley in Miami & in London - Roy Shirley, Rick Wayne, Sandeeno, Lexxy, Sons of David, Finote, Sister Eherta amongst others.

It was here that the Mighty Tabot Sound started to air the tunes at the weekly Roots & Culture night - Roots Studio. This was a main introduction to playing on the roots & culture circuit & The Mighty Tabot played there with other DJ’s and made good links with a wide range of people. Events were established and the sound was invited to play at a celebration night at Cargo in London as well as with Rootical Sound System in Galway, Ireland, the Uprising Crew in Cardiff, Wales & King Shiloh in the Netherlands. Since this time The Mighty Tabot Sound System continues to play to the people........
